Aromatherapy For Small Children | New Health and Fitness

New Health And Fitness.Org - Health Information You Can Use

In our daily quest to attain well-being and perfect mental and physical health, there are many ways to go about this, one of these being aromatherapy. The goal of holistic cure, at the end of the day, would be to achieve unity and perfect health of mind, body and soul, and aromatherapy can assuage anybody feeling mental, physical or spiritual discomfort, children included as well.

A gentle hug, smile or a kiss are forms of connection, bonding between the parent and the child. A loving nurturing touch of massage on the feet, arms, hands, back, abdomen and legs is therapeutic for both the child and parent, usually the mother.

Babies who reach the age of six weeks are now able to recognize their mother?s scent, thus making them even more sensitive than ever to aroma, may it be fragrant or odious in nature. By the use of sweet-smelling essential oils during your small child?s formative years, you can ensure your precocious little tyke grows up happy, healthy and of high self-esteem.

Essential oils are unique from one another in the sense that each of them has their own varying fragrance, color and benefits. What you would want to do first before unleashing the wide variety of fragrant aromas on your child would be to visit an aroma therapist or general practitioner for advise. In addition to seeing a medical professional, RESEARCH would be much advised on your part, as you gather data on the oils you plan to introduce your child to.

There are indeed numerous essential oils that are safe to use with children, but we have narrowed it down to a select few. Use them with great wisdom and happiness.

Lavender oil can be used as a home remedy when treating insect bites, earaches and headaches. Geranium oil and rose oil are two of the oils that could be used to tone and soften the skin, and also has astringent qualities. Chamomile and peppermint oil work in preventing premature hair loss. For those with dandruff problems, use either lavender, lemon or curry leaf essential oils. Use tea tree and lavender oils to deal with bruising or burnt skin. Constipation can be cured in most cases with black pepper oil. Cedar wood, eucalyptus and tea tree oil are helpful in silencing a bad cough. Use ginger, lavender and/or thyme oil if your child has a sore throat. For children who toss and turn in the evening, mix lavender and roman chamomile oil and use it to facilitate their easy and restful sleep. Keep your child happy instead of fussy during bath time by mixing their warm water tub with lemon and grapefruit oil.

Before we end this article, we must leave you with the requisite disclaimer for parents who plan to use aromatherapy oils on their kids. Like other substances used for medical purposes, essential oils must be handled with care. It is recommended you only use mild variants in modest amounts.

Essential oils are highly concentrated substances that must be diluted first, either with water or carrier oils.

Use water or carrier oils to dilute essential oils, which are substances with a very high concentration. Skin irritation may result on your tiny tots if you fail to observe proper procedures when diluting these oils. Do not put your children in a situation where they can easily access essential oils.
